In regard to the deactivation in the UK whereas it's legal (at the moment) to own an 'old spec' assault rifle, if you wanted to sell it it would have to be deactivated to the new specifications. The absurd thing is is that if it were not done you, as the seller, would not be in trouble, but the buyer would get it in the neck.
Speaking about markings on MP44's I had one from World Wide Arms 20 years ago for £325 which had all the parts WaA stamped as well as Russian Arsenal stamps, Egyptian Arsenal stamps and Israeli Arsenal stamps, obviously taken by the Soviets after WWII, passed on to Tito who then passed them on to Nasser and were then captured from the Egyptians and put into use by the Israelis.
