Hi fellows, So far I have not found any of the rework criteria as mentioned above on my MP44 , such as "1001',extra #'s,"x"S, etc. Although the bolt carrier, & bolt look a deep dark blue , Which may be evidence of "rework" as mentioned above. The piece is all matching in Excellent plus condition, Bore is pristine , bright w/ sharp rifling. Forward of the mag well is marked "COS", "2", "aqr",
    "Eagle over 280" ," qfv",& "Eagle over Waaa44".
I figure it must be a rework ,as it looks too good to be true.
    Thanks again& HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!

      Nice photos!

Just noticed two of the posters are in the UK. Whats the law on these? Presume its fine aslong as the are deactivated?

Whats the average price on a de-act one in the Uk nowadays?

Mine is a deactivated one. Mine is an 'old spec' deactivation which means it still strips and dry fires etc rather than being welded solid.
Pricewise? Well mine cost me under £300 about 12 years ago but nowadays old spec deacts seem to be in the region of £2000? Not sure how much a new spec one would be as I've never seen one for sale but I'd guess at around £1000 if MP40 prices are anything to go by?

Thanks Mike, think i'd prefer an old spec, nice that it dry fires.

Can you still get old spec ones? They are still legal?

What about blank firers? i have a video somewhere of a guy dressed up in SS camo firing a blank/cap firing MP44, i'll try and find it. Looks very nice indeed.

Yup you can still get old spec ones, in fact that's all I've ever seen for sale - though no doubt there is some new spec ones out there also but I've never actually seen one for sale.
The old spec stuff is still legal...well for now until the government have some sort knee jerk panic banning...you know the type...hand guns, knives, replica guns etc etc...
As for blank firers? Gawd knows now with all that VCR bill crap I'm not sure if they would be legal or not...??

My MP44 also came from East Germany. It was made by Steyer but I can’t find any X beside the number or no 1001. I choose between a couple of MP44 when I bought it more than 10 years ago, but the other were clearly blued so I picked this one.

Here it is and and here is a picture of the receiver.

Is it bare metal with no finish? "1001" was only stamped on mags so you won't find it on the gun itself.

                              MP43 bottom reciever

Hello, I have an MP43 and I am trying to determine the factory that produced it. On the bottom receiver it has cos WaA44 (Merz Werke) and WaA37 twice (Haenel/Sauer).

Not sure why it has two different makers. Any one know the answer? Thank you.
