    Dont put them in holsters, because some holsters have preservatives that can hurt the finish on the guns.

      Josh , c'mon. It has nothing to do with mom's apple pie preservatives. It's naturally occuring Tannic acids in the leather that will over time react with metals toward corrosion. Read a bit more before posting off the handle again , please.
      Pertinant to this thread I have found a brand of canned oil "FLUID FILM" to be rather excellent for long term storage of weapons & bayonets.
