    MG identity

    Hi there,
I'd say this is a Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR)

        mg identity

        Hi again,
After looking at the right hand side of the pic - I have to say that this is not a BAR at least not like those carried by GI's in WW2 but a similar weapon made by browning for aircraft use.
        Best regards,
        Chris

Bill does that weapon take the round flat magazine on top? Or straight type?

the breda doesn't have a gas cylinder, the bar feeds from the bottom and is totally different, and the lewis and vickers k are also totally different, it looks japanese or italian, or possibly french but i'm stumped.

I've had the image of this in my mind for some time now and eventually the penny dropped. Even if the image originally posted is not viewable anymore it should be the correct thread.

It is what's left of a Hungarian Gebauer Reconnaisance Machine Gun 1934.M or Gebauer Tank Machine Gun 1934/37.M. This left side view is close to identical, if memory serves, to the relic one.

For good info on the Gebauer machine guns see this link:

You're welcome, it was a tough one ...

Could you please repost the original picture for forum consistency?

                      Cheers,
