    Looking for a MG34 Lafette

Can anyone please tell me where to buy a lafette for my MG34. Thanks in advance Mike

Lafettes are out there but a little tough to find. I am not sure of any company that keeps them in stock these days so your best bet is just to keep checking sites like subguns.com sturmgewehr.com and there is an MG42,34 disscussion fourm http://www.mg42.us/ that has a line on one from time to time. Be prepared to spend around $1500-$2500 with no optics and a postwar paint job.

There was a nice one on flea bay .co.uk last week. It ended up selling for £1020 (approx US$2100).

              MG34 Lafette

              Hi,
The one on eBay looks like a repaint (to be expected) and the straps and pads are not originals, but a tidy piece.
You could try Mario Kabalt in the Netherlands on kabalt1945@planet.nl or kabal020@planet.nl
It's surprising what he comes up with at times.
              Good luck!
              Regards,

                    Re Laffetes

Glad i read this and thanks to ROUGHSHOOTER , had a look at that site and he had a mountain laffete listed . Had a chat with him and now purchased.
                    He is completely up front.

Told me the guy he got it off found it , cleaned it down.... .....and then repainted it and aged it again by running a torch over the paint job. Dont ask me why but thier you go . No pitting or holes anywhere , not perfect, but not bad.

Looks to be the early variant base with the late war pattern MG42 top tray.
wooden trigger and all. Not surprising as a lot of the standard 34 laffetes were moded in this way in service.

Looks like i may have a clean down to do to get rid of the burnt affect.
I will see about some pics when recieved. Anyone out thier got any spares for these puppies in case i need anything or will it be a visit to the tame machinist ?

                    regards
                    Tim

                      Late-war MG42 lafette

I wondered if anyone would jump on that 42 Lafette after looking at that site - a rare beast in that model.
A lot of hard work ahead - after the many hours I spent on my 1943 MG42 Lafette I'd not want to go through that again!
Looks like two happy customers from one thread - what a success rate - good luck guys!

                        re laffete

Indeed , i had the good fortune to obtain a 34 laffete dated 41 earlier this year, have done a refurb on that one through the summer.

Have to confess i am not exactly over the moon with the prospect of another ,

however, you dont see one of these every day.

                        regards

                            Hi Mike,

I'm really pleased you bought the lafette, I feel I have contibuted in some small way in getting the collector and the Lafette together. I thought it was a good price too.

                            Enjoy it !

                            Regards Craig.

                              Hi Craig,
I talk to the seller Daniel, the lafette was found in a bunker near France border "West wall". It's cost me euro 140 to ge it ship to New Zealand. Very expansive journey but is worth it as you don't find any original MG34 lafette in NZ.
                              Cheers
