The mounts are soldered on, is that right? Any chance of something like that being removed? I have hardly anyhing into this gun money wise. What would be the best way of leaving it?

      Ben,
It's really worth the sum of the parts and if you have no $ in it to speak of then I wouldn't fool with fixing it back. It makes a nice representative piece. If you don't like it then sell it as a reproduction sniper and find something that you do like.
I sold mine several years ago. There is a photo of it in Senich's book. I wish I didn't sell it but something else came along that I had to have.
The single claw's are not very common.

If it were mine , I would knock the bases off - and put them on a good action for a good deer rifle. Whomever did the "work" may not have bothered to solder them in place. They may have used screws and have hidden them with some tig welding. Hard to say without a good look around the edges of the bases and telltale signatures of any possible tig weld on the base tops. Someone could restore the 98k fairly decently for a starter 98k in collecting , at the very least the stock would be the bomb for one of the bnz45 matching actions floating around with no original wood.

          Hello
For help the debate I add you pics (two of R.D.Law book and one of P.R.Senich book)
I agree with others the style of the marking is no good
Other thing there are only few bnz claw mount produced between 43-44
          P Senich say 10000 approximately
The scope in the great majority are bmj made (Hensoldt)
the dkl are generaly founded with long side rail mounts
          Regards
