The metal parts look good on this one....
Especailly the head, nothing wrong with it....

I have my concerns about the stick. The marking on the stick and the sharp form on the ends...
Let's see what the others have to say about it...

          tater masher

The white lines look like the remains of the German words for "insert detonator
before using" (That makes sense) Real nice example of a tater masher!! very complete!

Those instructions would not be present on a 1943 dated example. And the instructions need 3 lines of words, not two. To me looks like remains of some tape-glue, whitening with age.

Yes, but smoke grenades have a row off 8 holes round the head-screw area, so the smoke could get out. The handle is different as well (so soldiers could recognize the different grenades in the dark). Check this one:

Like Francios, the stamping on the stick puts me off. IMO it does not match the overall condition of the gernade. The rest of the example I have no problem with.

I agree on the stick. the shape Im not in love with nor the markings either. Francois pretty much summed it all up actually. I believe all the metal is good including the head although I have never seen markings on the head like that either. the pull string is good, I know that. its really up to you but personally I would wait. thats a good amount of money for a piece that is somewhat iffy. I think you'd have a tough time reselling it down the road. but only you can decide.... Glenn

thank you guys for your reply, the item description syas this:

Original multi-piece stick grenade is hallmarked WaA 83 on warhead, along with the code 358-A-031. Also stamped 43FLF and waffen amt on stick. The side is also ink stamped, but I can't make it out. Someone has had white tape on it at one time, as there are traces of it on the metal warhead can. Comes complete with the original pull string and end cap. Head can be removed via threaded end. Warhead has been removed and its completely inert. Great addition to any collection!

He said that the stick have still a ink... possible new stick as you say?
