The gun is WWII production, no doubt (but that bolt face has some hellacious corrosion ). Do you have to trash the receiver at all to make it comply with the law or just the bolt face and the barrel?

This is definitely an original receiver. Too bad it's days of live fire are over.

Hi David, the Yugoslav's made a post war copy of the MG42, the M53. These sell for under half the price of a wartime MG42 in the UK.

Just look at the photos, the bolt face is cut and there is a slot cut in the barrel. This item is de-activated.

It's a WW2 gun that saw use after the war and had some parts replaced to keep it going. Still a very nice piece IMHO. Probably an ex-bundeswehr owned WW2 era MG42.

With a new bolt and barrel you'd be good to go, although the laws over in France probably wouldn't allow that......Chris....
