          Hi again,

As promised, here are the pictures. Thanks to SignalMan for sharing them.

Here is his comment about them:

"Hello, note that there is no Waa on this pistol, again indicating that this is a prototype or pre-production test pistol.

All other standard LP-42's I know of have a Waa number, only the LP-42 Z's have not been Waa

Finish is in the white, and painted with a black enamel paint, sorry, it was not blued as I previously reported. My memory is having a senior moment. I believe the other "Z" is identicle except the barrel might be painted as well.

          Good Collecting,

          Signalman
          "

And now, the pictures that everybody is waiting for:

            Very special...

Strange finnish on the barrel, perhaps the barrel is made on a later stage than the LP 42 ? ,in lack of riflerd barrel flare guns.

              Z Lp-42

Signalman and fellow collectors, A year or so ago at the Raleigh, N.C. Military Show, a well known flare gun collector from Virginia had a Z LP-42 that was not for sale but he kindly let me examine it. So I have had one in hand, so to speak. That was the first one and probably the only one I will ever see. I, too, do the finger "feel" on all late war flare guns at any show I attend because you may turn one up. who knows?

Ayf, Barrel is in the white - no finish. It is the frame that has the painted finish. Of course the other collector who also has an LP-42 Z is Greg Baker. By the way, I am always looking for odd and unusual flareguns. Good Collecting, signalman
