    Walther P38 magazine Waffenamt stamps?

On my P38v magazine there's an Eagle over 135 Waffenamt stamp. I seem to remember that at some point they changed this to an Eagle over WaA135 stamp. Does anyone know at what time they made that change?

The same goes for the Walther made P38s. Did they also change from Eagle over 359 stamps to Eagle over WaA359? If yes, when did this change take place?

I tried looking in Buxton's P38 books but didn't find an answer. If someone here can direct me to the right pages it'd be very nice. Thanks in advance

    PO8,

You will not find the answer to this in Buxton's books. The date of the change at Mauser cannot be determined exactly, but I would estimate this to have taken place in about Feb. 1944. At the same time this change was also taking place on the pistols (about the "q" block of production).

Walther never used WaA359 on their magazines or P.38's.

    Varifrån kommer du?

    Regards,
    Ron

Aha so Walther kept the Eagle over 359, interesting. This means that any Eagle over 359 P38v Magazine would be "correct" for an ac44. Thanks for the reply.

That is the correct magazine for an ac44. There was one rare exception to this WaA 359 stamp on the ac41's. It was not a transitional piece or sign of what was to come. We think the stamp or inspector may have migrated temporarily from the PP/PPK assembly line, as this stamp was used on those pistols. Follow this link to Mark Castels website to see the rare exception.
