    KampfPistole Z question..

    Hi all,

I have a 'stupid' question about the german KampfPistole Z.

I would have like to know in what kind of category it is.

I know that in UK, rifled or not, a flare gun need a licence to be hold (if you need it for security reason for a boat for instance).
I know that in France, it's free to hold because it is classified as a flare gun.
But in the US, what is it ? A flare gun ? A rifled arm ? So need to be declared ?

And in this case, do you know how I could 'import' it from US to France ?

I hope you could give me some advice.

Waiting for reading from any members

Have a good week end (even if it's the end)

    Bruno

PS: Any official link would be appreciated.

I can't help you with info about importing a flare gun from the US but they are not considered firearms here and no license is required to buy, sell and own them. That's one of the reasons I like to collect them.

The Kampfpistole Z (so-marked) is an approximately 27mm rifled arm. At one point here in the U.S. it was classified as as a (federal) National Firearms Act "destructive device" because it was a) over 20mm bore and b) rifled. It it was removed from the classification of a National Firearms Act weapon and reclassified as a curio and relic firearm sometime ago but so far as I know is still classified as a firearm, not a flare gun, and hence may be subject to the appropriate export regulations applying to firearms, and because it is a military firearm special regulations may apply. You should check the appropriate section of the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives website, or inquire of its Technical Branch and/or with a U.S. licensed firearms exporter. Export may not be a simple matter, especially if the U.S.Board of Munitions Control has to be involved.

You should explore the situation with a U.S. licensed arms exporter. There may be some way to to do it....

Yes, Craig, that's the only and last way to explore.

I'm sure it can be done but my only hope is not to be considered as a terrorist or a guns trafficker. I'll keep you in touch.

            Best regards

If you decide not to purchase it, I would be interested in purchasing it. I have a C&R license, and it would be OK for the individual to sell to me.

I collect all variations of signalpistols, and am always looking for nice Kampfpistole's. Good Luck with the Exporter,

              Good Collecting, signalman

How is the Z considered in belgium? I have seen several Z´s at the last Ciney meeting and those were´nt disarmed in any way.

Would be much easier for you to drive to ciney next time (april next year) and pick one up there.

                          Good idea dogtagman,

But I'm not sure that the price proposed in Ciney would be the same that I have the opportunity to have in the US except if you can share some of your contacts

                          See you.

it was a good price indeed.
Do you take any phone number or 'business' card by chance ?
