I was hoping someone on the board might be able to help decipher the buttstock markings on my Lee-Enfield rifle. The brass disc is marked 10.14 3.MAN 1412 and there is also a British crown with a large number 2 impressed into the wood in the "wrist" area of the stock. Any help would be appreciated as all I can find on the internet is that it was made by Birmingham Small Arms in 1906. The rifle was given to me by an elderly neighbor when I was in junior high and he said his father had it back in the 1920's.

I put an enfield collecting buddy onto your post , but he's having a helluva time getting registered on this site. So as per his request Mr Sukey asked this data be posted to you here :
Anyhow
10.14 is the date is was issued to the Manchester regijment
Apparently it is the 3rd battalion, most likely a war raised one as the only listing I have is for the first battalion, (63rd foot), and the 2nd battalion (93rd foot)
1412 would be the rack number
