Value of identified SMLE No 1 Mk 3

Question for you Enfield collectors. What do you think would be the value of a Unit identified, and owner identified Officers personal Enfield that was brought home attributed to the 1st R Nfld Regt. The officer was even present from gallipoli to at beaumont Hamel on July 1 1916. I dont have thr rifle as it is still in the families hands who were thinking of getting rid of it, i will most likley tell my father to take it and licence it (and whatever else is offered, i know there is a sword, webbing etc) no matter the expected value if it had to be bought because of what it is.

    Regards,

    Pete

Lee Enfields here are usually 250 dollars.

I don't know the answer and it maybe bit of a longshot but it may be worth asking on this forum:

      http://1914-1918.invisionzone.com/fo...p?showforum=23

I have used this forum in the past whilst researching a relative who served in WW1 and I received some useful advice.

      Hope it helps

      Cheers

        Hi Pete,

Unit identified No1s are fairly uncommon. Does it still have the long range volley sights? That too increases value. Off the top of my head I would start at 500 and add dollars as the information is authenticated and the features of the rifle are known.

        Cheers
