Mp43 !!??!!! belive or not true....

Hi fellows,

I had this Mp43 for years but its gone this is what I have left of it. I would like to ask around that how rare is an actuall Mp43? I know it looks like an Mp44 but it had the Mp43 clearly stamped in the side (left). I was preserved fairly good because its from the river Duna (Donau) in Budapest. I had the restoration done my self, and had to make a repro stock for it... On the weapon nearly everthing could move even I could load it and it would take the catrage out properly... I hope you enjoy the photo.

Basically the MP.43, MP.44 and the StG.44 are the same gun, it just went through several naming revisions for political reasons. In terms of rarety of the different markings they go from MP.44 being the most comon and StG.44 the rarest.

MP43 was made since December 1943 to the early 1945 so it's quite common marking. Yours is in a very good shape as for river found one.
Have a look for similar ones below:

To me there is something compelling about firearms in relic condition. I just picked up a 1906 Luger that looks to be in about the same condition but still operates.

An Mp 43/44 is a nice find, in any condition; the little pitting does not distract from the gun (but probably would not look too good ona girl!). Great collection there you have in Poland Jacek! Especially the Mkb. 42, a beauty!

I don't come often to the Firearms forum, but now that I am here - anyone here has the follow-up to this one, the MP45 (or Sturmgewehr '45). Only seen it on the box art of a Dragon 1:35 Model Kit. Any known survivors?

Thanks! I think that M.Kb.42(W) (apart from Haenels version shown) is quite nice as well

There are some StG45s in museums and private collections in the US and in Europe.

There are two types of preserved Stg45's, prototype and troop trail test rifles.

This is a late prototype StG45(M), kept by the Waffenmuseum Oberndorf in Germany:



This is what is believed to be the 0-series troop trail StG45(M) marked V21, one of 30 made. Owned by a private collector in the US. These were most likely assembled by the British post war:

I looked for Oberndorf, but there are about 10 of these places in Germany - any idea which one? If it's close, I might go there for a day.

Look for "Oberndorf am Neckar". The town is most known for the current main office and factory of Heckler & Koch.
