    I Have A Remington 1917 This Is Al Li Know About It
    Couple Questions

    1. What Is It Worth

    2. What Factory Made It

    3. What Do The Markings Mean

    There Is A 38 Marking On The End Of The Barrel.

    Appears To Be A Flaming Grenade On The Side

    Some Type Of Bird Head Stamp With The Number 21

    There Is Also A 3 Gmk -k Marking

    And The Letter L Stamped Right Below In Front Of The Bolt

                  Tony, your rifle was made by Remington. I can't tell you what all the markings you describe mean, but I do know some. The flaming bomb is a firing proof. The small eagle over number markings are just factory inspection stamps. The 3 Gmk-k is thought to be a rebuild or Arsenal reinspection marking.

                  Most 1917 rifles have been rebuilt, rebarrelled, rearsenaled, ect at some point in their service life. All original rifles are scarce, and will be nicely blued with all parts marked with an R for Remington, E for Eddystone, or W for Winchester. Some of the very last Eddystone rifles were originally parkerized, but that's not relevant to your rifle. Rebuilt rifles will usually be parkerized, and have a mix of R, E, and W parts. Your rifle, like most, was rebuilt at some point.

                  It looks like your missing both handguards and action screws from what I can see. Hope that helps.
