    Walther PP .22 caliber

    I encountered this neat Walther PP when at a local show while searching for Radom/Femaru pistols. It is nice enough that I purchased it.

    Walther PP experts ( there are some ) tell me that it was made in 1942. Its eagle/N marked.

    While searching for information on these I found this example by serial number listed on page-73 of " Walthers models PP and PPK " by James Rankin.

    I need to find a easy to use photo software that will allow me to present my firearms better... any thoughts?

    Nice piece Robert. FYI, about 20 years ago I purchased a PPK in .22 cal only to find out that the spare clip was actually for a PP. If in your collection you have a PPK clip you'd like to trade for a PP let me know. These .22 cal clips are hard to find.

      .22 's are very sought after by walther collectors.

      is that frame a dural by any chance? where the blue is coming off of grip, does it look like bright aluminum alloy underneath?

      that would make it worth even more. but i'm not even sure if .22 durals were ever made.


      I found a dural walther pp at a gun store near me for only 450 bucks but I think it's been refinished so i'm hesitant.

        Can't help with the photo software. I just use the one that is with Windows.
        A friend of mine swears by something called "Picasa"....I think thats what he calls it.

          I love those "sub-caliber" versions of the larger pistols. Excellent find, and it looks like it's in pretty good shape. Thanks for showing.
          I certainly don't claim to be any expert, like Boston Mark, and others, but in my frustration, I bought an early version (2.0) of Adobe Photoshop Elements. You can buy it pretty inexpensively (under $50.00) at Sam's Club, or Costco. It's a VERY powerful program, and WAY beyond my capabilities, but it'll surely do a lot of stuff for your photos.
          I'm still struggling with that phase of collecting. I record everything for the confuser programs that keeps up with all of that. I'm still not satisfied with the outcomes I've been getting. I think my biggest problem is with lighting. I have purchased a portable "light box" and had ---- ahem, moderate success with that. I think Mark and other professionals would tell you that the better the photo going into the process, the better your results will be.

            Hi Robert,

            Give this photo software a try. It is free, very easy to use and will do all the basic things. I use it almost exclusively for my web site pictures.

            As Ronnie mentioned, proper lighting is the real secret to good pictures of guns.
