    My first k98

    Hi guys.
I just received my first ever kar98 rifle.
Its a code 660 1940 german kar98 with all mathcing numbers.
Its a real beauty in fantastic condition. and thankfully it was never varnished or the wood dies postwar.
this gun came from a stock of guns acquired by the russians at the end of the stalingrad siege in russia.
I was sent a large photo of the entire stock and i was allowed pick out my favourite, so i went for this beauty
It was missing a sling, which i thought it just had to have, so i just bought a nice original k98 sling with the correct cross hatching in the leather and got it yesterday, i thinik it really looks good.
now im thinking a nice bayonet from 1940 ? or maybe even saving up and slapping a nice original sniper cope onto her? any suggestions guys ?
    Hope you enjoy the pics.
    Ian

    Nice K-98.

    Ian - a nice gun .
What part of the country are you in ?
I take it that she was not an ex Russian capture ?
I have one which is - had to get it cleaned up - a load of varnish crap removed.

    Nice one .

I wouldnt put a sniper scope on it because it isnt a sniper. This would make a nice shooter.

They did, but they didnt use yours, the recievers on snipers are very large.

I wouldnt try to upgrade it. Since its a russian capture it will only be good for shooting, because the collectibility of RCs are limited to SS guns, snipers, and other unusually marked guns.

The recievers on snipers are thicker than regular run of the mill mausers. You may be able to get some ammo and take it shooting, these mausers are a blast to shoot, you will have alot of fun with it.

BTW, you would need a gunsmith to put the scope on it.

Please, for the love of God, don't slap a scope on it! There are far too many faked K98 snipers out there already. Leave this one alone.

Otherwise, I think that this is a nice gun!

You got yourself a very nice K98 Ian. I wouldn't put a sniperscope on. Let it be like it is now. It looks beautifull without scope.

                  regards erwin

I agree, leave it as it is right now. You would have to pay extra to drill the holes for your mount etc and this would decrease the value IMO.
                    Nice gun btw

Very nice rifle, I am envious. Is this going to be a display item for you or are you planning to use it as a shooter and or hunting purposes?

By all matching do you mean the electro pencil marks? Because there has been no all matching RC mauser. It is a very nice gun.
