The maker is Steyr ..the code bnz is missing in some weapon in 42 - 43 you can note the WAa 623 on the gun
COS is a sub contract maker (for the receiver in this case)
Gebrueder Merz never made complete MP 40

      Hi Adrian,

I don't think that the 'S' means 'Safety'.
It doesnt't look to be a german word ... , is it ?

      Anyway, nice piece.

      Best regards

Thanks for all the help and comments guys!Glad I could share it.
Sling is supposed to be original. Really would love to have some more MP40 gadgets but I concentrate on other guns now.
I think 'Sicher or sicherheit' is German and means safe or safety...

I know that but I thought I would give the answer in English to ensure it was understood.

          Cheers, Ade.

            Hi Ade,

            It's was only kidding !!
            Hope I didn't hurt you.

It was just reminding me an article where a guy was talking about a gun call 'Gesichert '.

            Have a good day.

            Best regards.

(*Unfortuately, they will cost MUCH More than the MP40 - unless

Nice gun, great condition too, congrats! My favorite too.
Mag set is expensive (though will not cost more than the MP40) I have MP40 for a number of years and never bought pouches, I would rather spend this money for more attractive items.

Very nice gun, almost looks like it was never deactivated.

Hi, I'm new and saw this posting on the forum.
Great images and she's a beaut.

I need some guidance if possible.

I've an opportunity to purchase of an MP40 tomorrow.

It's operational although no longer selective fire.
Current owner took it straight from the original owner in '45 and is looking to sell.
I'm informed matching with around 85% blue, little if no rust. One Mag.
What price should I be aiming to pay?
                      Any comments are warmly welcome.

BTW I live in Jersey, Channel Islands. The MP's never left the island since arriving with the Germany Army in 1940 hence still operational but converted single fire as mentioned.

                      Thanks,
                      Brendan

Hmmmm so they altered the firing mechanism because I thought MP40 was only full auto?
I guess you have to be in the 1500-2000 euro range. Saw a working one 3 weeks ago for around 1400 euro.

Ok - that helps, it's difficult to offer more info until I see it in the flesh at the range tomorrow.
If any of the numbers don't match, how much could that affect the price?

In the USA this is the price range for a fully deactivated and mismatched MP40.

I have a MP40 question, but rather than starting a new thread, I'll post it here:

                              If an MP40 is stamped

                              MP40
                              660
                              40

can someone tell me where it was made?

                              Thanks!

It was made in Steyr plant (Austria) in 1940
from mid 1940 they change the code in bnz
