    Iraqi Tariq pistols

Who all has a tariq, I have seen a few at gun shows and they are very rare, and cost prohibitive.

    Here is a picture.

    Josh,

I am looking for one. We captured hundreds of them but then recycled them back into the Iraqi forces. Soldiers cannot bring back weapons like they could in WWII. I did bring back a Soviet flare pistol (we used them to shoot at packs of dogs mostly or to skip them in front of unruly crowds to disperse them without hurting them) and a nice Tariq bayonet.

While we brought back a great many weapons, they were all marked historical property and placed into the National Infantry Musuem. Some real beauts were saved though, including three of Saddam's personal firearms.

While I could not bring back a Tariq, I did think to strip the most collectable part off the Tariq pistol--the grips. I figured I could get a Baretta M951 (the Tariq is a copy of this) as we captured many of those as well. We also encountered a few Helwans (Egyptian M951 made on Baretta's original machinery). They all look essentially the same.

Now, I quietly look at each show to find the one that will take my war souvenir grips and complete the circle. Here is a pic. Enjoy. Steve

Some of these were brought back before the rules got anal during OIF, I know of a few guys who were able to bring back a few Iraqi guns legally.

Send me an email and I will help you get one.

I saw a gold plated one in a pile of captured weapons.
