Springfield '03s, Another Question, Please

Mine is an '03A1 made at Rock Island Armory in 1919, sent to Springfield Armory and not completed and issued until 1929. Barrel is Springfield 1929, so assume it is original. Issued to Fourth Marines, San Diego,Calf. the "China Marines" in 1929. Came out of the CMP in 1954. This much I know.

Question: Are records available on when piece was retired from active service, and if so how do I access the records? Any suggestions on this?

I am at work right now, and don't have all the "bookmarks" in front of me, but try looking up Springfield Research Service, something like that, (someone will know it), you can look up serial numbers for US Martial Arms, you won't get a "hit" all the time, but there are quite a few serial #'s on there.
