Hello,
I have a 42 code 1939 k98, all matching except it has a Czech bolt from a VZ24 in it.....this rifle is in rough shape, I would say at it's very best it is in fair shape only. Still it is full of history and I quite like it.
I cleaned off a bunch of crap from the stock, and on the left side of the butt there is a faint MAUSER marking on it, in it's oval shape. This is not my first k98, but I have never seen this on one before. It is WaA marked on the other side of the butt with an H as well. I thought the MAUSER cartouche was only on commercail models? Can anyone tell me if this was the norm for early k98 rifles? Thanks very much, no pics as of yet.
