Hi Gents,
I posted a short while ago re an MG34 Laffete i was going to look at.
Ive bought it as it was complete non damaged if a little nasty round the edges re paint finish.
The markings are
fsu 1941 ( not too many problems with that one)
44 I.I. ( this is located slightly below and to the right of the above
marking. Is this a unit marking? factory refurb ? I really
don't have a clue)
The second marking has been applied with hand stamps as thier is the associated slight depression to indicate it was struck in a different manner to the factory code and date.
Any help from the experts out thier will be much appreciated.
The tripod has a red primer coat , followed by field grey, with a coat of dark yellow, followed by a topcoat of a medium green that i would not like to garantee was german in origin
What is nice is that at full elevation thier is an untouched layer of the field grey
that has been concealed and protected from sunlight.
The paint ups the weight to about 200 kilo's or it felt like it when carrying to the car
