MP40 seral numbers

Hi,

Does anybody know if there is a list with the serial numbers on the MP40 related to their original owners/users? I saw one with number 7803. Unfortunatly it is a bit damaged....

Welcome to the forum.

I doubt very much if such lists were made.
I assume that the weapons were produced and then just shipped out to division armouries, the same as everything else.
The only items i know that can be traced to their original owners are some SS daggers.

Sadly it would be impossible to trace the original owner of the gun.

We had a similar question about trying to trace the owner of a K98 the other day. Read this thread as it explains why this would be impossible:
