    Another p38 lanyard!

I thought I would let people know that a p38 lanyard is up for sale at ebay item number: 2173673526
The seller is a great guy ( no its not me! ) and has 100% original items.
When you look, take a peek at the pictures he supplies of a GI going through bins of pistols. If you look real hard you can see a pistol actually with a lanyard attached!
I know that they are not cheap and I had a hard time parting with the cash but I'm very glad I bought it and have no regrets.

    Robert,

Thanks for the info. I bought one from a UK dealer 3-4 years ago. Always thought it was a repro even though it was sold as original. Identical to yours cost me about £45/$60. Anyone else care to comment on these.

I got mine, and I had to pay for it, but just like Robert, I have no regrets, and no plans to sell it.....EVER!

$60 for a P38 lanyard is nothing short of a miricle! I would be highly suspect of it! Either the guy selling it was an idiot, or you got a reproduction.

      Robert,
I know this guy as well. He is a very good guy to deal with. I got several very nice K98 slings from him! He has a web site with tons of information on the K98 sling.

        Lanyard

        Matt,
I hope that Mark just just got a good deal! A "real" good close up of the cloth weave might be a good place to start.

I'll send you a pic tonight Matt of a "few" goodies! Make sure your sitting down!

I just don't know on my lanyard. the construction is identical to Roberts but its one of those pieces I have consigned to the unsure box and thats where it will remain. I still suspect its a copy, but I can live with it.

          Thanks for the info

I would just like to comment on the seller. Riedar Daee is excellent to deal with. he has been liquidating the stores of German equipment in national guard type bases in his native country for over a year now. I think most of what was there is gone now so this may be the last chance you have. his stuff is 100% authentic, and in awesome shape.

Here are some pics of my ??? P38 Lanyard. Any comments will be helpful, whatever they may be. I have my own view on this but would like others.

              Cheers

I have seen 2 basic types of P.38 lanyards. One is narrow and the other is wide. I have 2 different widths of the wide type. The narrow ones seem to have come in from Norway. The wider ones showed up later. I have not idea why.

Here is a link to pictures of the 3 styles that I have. I posted this link on the P.38 Forum some time back and a P.38 researcher in Norway assured me that all the ones in my picture are original. The main thing is that the leather look old and have the "P38" stamped on it.

                  Hope this helps. http://lmd-militaria.com/page339.html

                  Regards, Leon

If I may interject into this thread, see the following:

This is the one I got from Raider Dae, and am well pleased. Wouldn't dare let it go now. Yes, expensive!! But worth it.

                    Great guy to deal with!!

Just from those two pictures it looks ok for me but consider taking pictures of it just the same way as the lanyards are set up on that link that Leon posted. This things did not see much use I suspect, if you have ever used a lanyard you know that they are a "pain" to use and they get hooked all the time.

Mark, you can always send pictures to "bergflak" in Norway, he is the duty expert on them, many of them have come from him... he has had access to them.

                          Thanks Guys,

I checked the link mine compares favourably to the top two shown in the link, type of thread, leather, P38 stamp, black grommet and finish on the metalwork, mine does not have the maker stamp however? I'll take some duplicate photos that mimic those on the site.

                          Thanks again

More shots of the Lanyard I own, taken to mimic those on Bergflaks site.
