    My New Luger

    Hello firearms forum.

I wanted to show you all what I just added to my collection. It's a 1938 dated S/42(Mauser mfg) P08 that I picked up here from Larry Weiss. It's all matching serial numbers (5508) ... although I haven't taken the grips off to see if they match but the wear on them seems to match the wear and patina of the pistol itself. It came with a nice original holster mfg by AUWÄRTER&BUBECK 1939 STUTTGART WaA101.

Unfortunately it did not come with a take down tool or matched set of mags but it is a very handsome piece that I'm happy to add to my collection.

    Thank you Larry.

very nice indeed! I keep wanting to save up for one but other pieces that I feel "I need" keep coming along. I need to win that damn lottery. Glenn

I cannot believe your luck finding on eBay a mag only one number off from your new Luger. Great match.

I know it was really freaky to come across that the very day I brought it home.

I think the mag is more than one number away from your pistol.
The suffix of the mag is "x". 1938 were no "x" pistols produced.
Please look under the barrel in direction to the frame. You should find the whole serial number and below the suffix. It should be a letter between b and n.
I think the mag belongs to a S/42 - 1939, because the eagle shows the spreaded wings and the acceptance number 63.

                            Hello Günter,

Well I'm learning something about Lugers now. I posted this on a Luger gunboard and found out what you are telling me just a bit of time back. The suffix on my pistol is a lower case L.

                            Thanks again for your post.

                            Hi bigschuss,

Sorry to see that you lost a good friend or relative in Afganistan. God bless him and all the others that serve.
