I'm thinking of picking up a Russian rifle. What model of the Mosin Nagant would be considered the representative rifle of the Russian army in WWII? Thanks

Hi Jamie, you can have a choice of several It all depends on which branch of service you are interested in and the time, early or late war?
The standard Mosin Nagant used by the Infantry throughout the war was the M1891/30.
Cavalry/Artillery/truck drivers, etc were issued with the M1891/38 carbine. This was superceeded in 1944 by the M1944 version with integral folding bayonet.
Snipers were issued with the M1891/30 fitted with the PE scope (early war) the later with the PU scope.
Hope this helps?
Cheers, Ade.

yes, I just visited SOGs web page. They have the M91/30s for only $94. Otherwise you can get the M38 short rifle (my choice!), for only $99.95, or you could really cheap out, and get the M44 carbine for only $59.95!! Now that's a cheap rifle! Surplus ammo is easy and cheap to find for these as well! You really can't go wrong!
