Post your MG34/42 optics cables please

I want to see some pictures of the optics cords from the battery box to the optical sight, these aren't pictured too well in Myrvang's book, and have been told that there were quite a few post war variants and also Finnish copies, need help identifying the real thing. Thanks, Chris...

    MG Optics Cables

Still looking for some pictures, here's two that I would like opinions on, the top one is the one I'm really curious about, anyone see a cord like this before? Chris....

                    Hi Chris,

No, I have not seen a cloth cord, nor that type of connector used on period weapons.

                    Cheers
                    Gary

Thanks guys, if anyone runs into any optic cords for sale at a decent price feel free to PM me. Nice pictures guys! Are the leather boxes a lot more rare and valuable than the metal battery boxes? Thanks again for posting these guys, also didn't the Finns have a cables similar to the German ones? Chris...

                        Hello Chris,
I own and have owned quite a few of these boxes and cables over the years, my experience generally tells me the connectors on the cables have German manufacturers marks however as with other items of pre 1945 German equipment it is possible late war items may have been unmarked.
All original cables i have owned have always been of the rubber coated type, the fabric coated cable looks very simmilar to a radio headset lead.
As for rarity you could not find these things for the love of money at one time and then 100's seemed to make their way out of Finland and Norway as their respective Armies sold off equipment, many of which are indeed ex WH. IMHO the steel boxes tend to be more available than the leather version, though beware some pre 1945 boxes have been modified to accept alternative batteries to the type used by the WH. Also i once bought what appeared to be a leather box in excellent condition for £10 off Ebay however upon receipt it was very brittle as the leather had dried out in a huge way, saying that £10 was still a bargain.
Bergflak (he uses the same ID on the Forum) was my man on Ebay for getting hold of these boxes and cables, I am not certain wether he still deals on Ebay but I do believe he is a member of this forum, I think he is still based in Norway. The items he offers for sale are unquestionably pre 1945 and i regard him as a very reliable, honest and trustworthy individual.
If you would like pictures please send your Email address, as I am not a paid up member of the forum.
                        Cheers,
                        Mark.
