The guy is selling russian captures with some accessories thrown in.

He says "PICTURES ARE REPRESENTATIVE." Pretty clearly you are not getting the rifle shown.

Hope things work out for the best.

      K98

You can get nice Russian Capture K98's in the 250$ range no problem. The cleaning kit pictured is , PM me and I'll tell you where you can get an original K98 cleaning kit for 20$. This rifle is way overpriced for a Russian Capture, although the seller did a good job on his presentation, I like how he included the "warranty slip" on the guncase to make it look like it was with the rifle, very clever. Do you think there is a way I could break the contract?

Interordnance sells them cheap, this shipment now with interordnance is the last shipment of rifles with Nazi markings. Interordnance sells them with the slings and cleaning rods. They also remove the shellac.

Is this a better one (I can get it for $165 with a good bore)?

And the other rifle I just won't send payment because it is a RUSSIAN CAPTURE not just a "refinshed" rilfe, therefore the description was off.

okay bought the second and set this to gunbroker.com

"The rifle described is a RUSSIAN CAPTURE with the site hood off and other differences with a German issue K98 and is not just a "refinished" rifle. Therefore, the description was off and I do not intend on paying for a rifle that the description was off and the pictures are misleading."

                    Maj.

It will be interesting to read gunbroker.com response to your message.

Notice how none of the pictures of either of these 2 rifles are close ups showing the receiver, the bolt or any of the other numbers, including the year or the even the manufacturer's code. That is a big RED flag on these guns.

                    Be careful

                    Joe

                      K98 Purchase

Also, if buying a Russian Capture make sure the eagles Swastikas haven't been pinged out, many of them have been, and sellers will not always mention that. Classic Arms also has a great reputation for selling K98's. Research additional info on gunboards.com or the Parallax curio and relic forum. Both have K98 subsections that will be helpful. I've had good luck with the last few russian capture K98's from Interordnance. $200 + shipping if you have a C&R FFL. Very typical RC's, but all markings were intact on all of them I ordered.

For what it's worth, someone is still selling K-98's on Gunbroker.com with those exact same photos. I know I've seen that pic very recently, as I've only been actively hunting for a K-98 for the last couple of months.

Not only does this guy (metrops) sell RC K98s with "extras" like the case, cleaning kit, etc; he also sells other guns like M48s and M24s in a similar fashion.

                            All of his stuff:
                            http://gunbroker.com/Auction/SellerA...sp?User=306458

$400 is way overpriced for a RC K98, even with the "extras". He also wants $185 for a Mosin-Nagant M1891/30, and a post-war arsenal refinished one at that.

                              You got took.
An original is over a thousand these days and not real common. One that looked that good would have been a premium and a knowledgeable dealer would have shown all the important aspects.
Don't fall for the "mostly matching" or "bolt matches itself" silliness.
250-300 with all the gear would have been ok for this as a shooter.
I am wondering about how these are going to do on the market as the cheap ammo is about gone for good this time.

There should be public floggings for guys like this dealer.

These forums are the places to find out the goods.

                                K98

                                Major:
The guys are right on for this piece, I have one of those post war cleaning kits and it is brand new, came with a post war P /1 /P38, junker. The sling is also a repro. These people add all those goodies to impress the buyer! What you see is an example, of what you don't get! Mitchells Mauser is another rip off, nice shiney polished bolts, never encountered on any WW2 K98, blued buttplate and all! As a shooter, any RC with a decent barrel would do as far as I am concerned. I have one of those Yugo K98's that sold for just over a hundred bucks a few years back, even that one is much nicer than any RC I have ever seen. and it shoots great! They are all gone now! Its a keeper for me. I shoot this one and keep my all matcher for looks. Good luck and keep looking!
