    MP40 Question

    Hi All,

Does any one know if it possible to purchase a de-activated mp40 out of Canada?

    Thanks in advance,

    #2
Hi Bill, I don't think it would not be possible to import one sorry. (I trust we are taking about Canada to the USA?) Canadian de-acts are very different to US ones.

    Cheers, Ade.

How to get an MP 38 u 40 'Dummy'

          Hi,

All of the above is correct (unfortunately)....

But, you can 'construct' a Dummy MP 38 u 40 by:

          a. Buying a Dummy all metal Japanese model (if your state / city allows); or

          b. www.gunbroker.com has MP 40 parts sets for sale constantly (No receiver tube of course.)

          c. A SUPER Dummy all metal Receiver tube for MP 40 is available thru www.uniquecanes.com

You'll end up with a very presentable display item (!)

            Hi All,

Thanks for the answers! Yes Canada to the US. Can I buy all the parts minus the receiver?

            Thanks,

Cant have the barrel, the whole thing should be welded together, so I wouldnt buy it. Try for a parts kit here in the US.

As has already been posted, several of the main components such as the intact barrel or receiver can not be imported into the U.S. The barrel and receiver can only be imported if destroyed per BATFE's regulations, so that these components no longer constitute a firearm "barrel" or "receiver" under the relevant statutes and regulations.

I think you must have an approved BATFE Form 6, in order to get the remaining gun parts into the U.S.

Lots of parts kits, dummy guns, Jap. repros, etc. are already here in the U.S., so my advice would be to focus your efforts here and forget about stuff that is out-of-country.

You should buy a nice parts kit off of Gunbroker, the reciever tube is taken out, but it wouldnt even be noticable.

Forgot to add that if you look around you might find a registered dewat, they are usually a little more expensive than parts kits, but everything is intact, and you can send them in to the ATF to have them rewatted(there is a fee though).

                          Josh,
I think that you will find that registered dewats are quite a bit more than parts kits. Even the MP40's that have been made up with an aluminum fake receiver run $800 to $1000, at least the ones I have seen lately, You can also look around for one of the Japanese made MP38/40 that fire the small blank rounds.Even those command a rather high price. I beleive if you do a search on the forum you will find some info about them.
