    Ecko double barrel flaregun!

    Hi there,

Last weekend I´ve been to a show in Kortrijk in Belgium and ended up walking outside with this beauty!
Been looking for one for a while as you don´t see them too often around here.
It sure isn´t mint but has the "been there" look I like.

Now the lesser part..........the safety doesn´t work properly.
Does any of you have some sort of explosion vieuw of this type of flare gun so I can use that as a refrence while trying to repare it?

Any info on the date of manufacturing is also very welcome!
Hope you can help me out,

            Hello Eric,

Nice find. Is the eagle a Weimar eagle?

            Regards Erwin

              Hello Erwin,

As far as I know and could find out using the search button the eagle stamp is an inspection/acceptance stamp to indicate it was luftwaffe property.
The one on my flaregun has a small 2 inbetween the styelised wings.
These acceptance stamps can also be found on other weapons such as the luftwaffe fighting knives and daggers though most of those have a 5 instead of a 2.

Please correct me if I´m wrong.
              All the best, Eric

                  update

                  Hi there,

Thanks to the help of member whsammler I got in contact with Greg Baker who is a well known collector of German flare guns.
He helped me out giving me some tips how to remove the parts and in what order.

My flaregun works like it should again!

Looked like the previous owner had a peek inside but put the main springs back upside down and lost a spring on the safety selector so it hung loose inside the handle.
Fitted a new spring and straightened the small brass indicator on the right barrel that pops up when the gun is loaded.
It was jammed because the inside part was bent.

Took some pictures of the inside and thought it would be fun to show them.
You can see the main springs are fitted upside down....the brass tubes are supposed to be underneath in the handle.
Most parts were numbered and had the same last 3 digits as the serialnumber.

                        Hi Francois,

Guess you went to the ammo fair in Landgraaf?
I´m also a member of the NVBMB but am saving my money for Ciney.
Im sure I will visit the ECRA in september.

Stunnig piece of aluminium isn´t it!

Forgot to mention mine is made in 1943 which is the only year these ECKO marked ones bare no date....thanks again Greg!

This tube was missing its spring and is suppossed to be connected to the small pin in the handle.
Reshaped it and put in a new spring.
