    Firearms Forum annual get together

Well, the Louisville show (SOS), is gone and passed us already.

However, those who attendend had a great get together with the guys from the P38 forum. I'd like to make this an annual event.

So, with the suggestions from other members here on the WAC, I'd like to start planning this now.

I would like the annual get together to be held at the Louisville show (SOS), wich is always the last weekend in February at the Louisville expo center. I don't have the exact dates yet for 2008, but I'm sure we'll get those soon.

I'd like to reserve 2 adjoining hotel rooms near the show. We would also have food and beverages available. The get together would be more like a "show and tell" type social meeting. In other words you can bring stuff to show, or just bring yourself and look and ask questions of other members. This would take place at night, I would say probably 7pm-? whenever the last beer is gone!?!?

I would like to ask for donations for this in advance, and also would like to get a list of people who plan on attending? I also would like to get a volenteer (or two), to help organize and set this whole event up each year?

So if you are interested in attending, or would like to help organize this event, please contact me, and let me know. I would also like to extend an invite to the members of the P38 forum as well. Since they were so kind to invite us this year, they certainly are welcome to attend our show and tell next year!

All the donations collected would go directly to reserving the two rooms, and getting the food, and beverages for the get together.

I'll post more details up about this event on this thread as I get more information available.

Thanks, and hope to see you all there!

    Hi Matt,

Count me in!! May I suggest at $25 donation per participant? That should build up a good war chest.

Of course I'm for this endeavour!! Thanks for getting the ball rolling Matt... And Gary, I think your idea of contribution is fair!! I know that those rooms are not free, neither are the beverages.

BTW, it was at the P 38/WAC forum room that I met Gary Cain!!

      COUNT ME IN!!

Great! Glad to see that there is some immediate interest in this!
          Gary, Your donation is noted.
I talked about this with Bill already, and we decided to simply ask for donations rather than a set price per person. We don't want to exclude anybody for financial reasons.
I know everybodys' money situation is different, so we are only asking for donations. What ever you feel comfortable with?

          Thanks,
          Matt

Anyone want to volenteer to help set this up?
Also, any ideas on food, and any beverage requests? (I was thinking of mainly just beer, but any special kind of beer? I live in beer country you know!)

            Hey Matt,

I will be happy to help you set things up. As for the beverages, there is a liquor store down the highway that has some very fine Trappist Monks beers in stock! They are a little pricey but boy are they good!

My mid-terms were good, all in the A-C area, and my dad wouldve let me slide with one D. I just need to keep at it, I would be very interested to see all of your collections, and if I can, I can bring my two Arisakas(I will be getting a Type 38 pretty soon, so then my three arisakas) and maybe my G-Grandpas bringback mauser.

                        Matt,
The SoS dates are Feb. 21-24 2008. My tables have already been rented - my room reservation already made - and I would love to be a part of the get-together.
Please let us know when and where to send the donations.

Seeing since I don't know what'll I be doing 11 minutes from now, 11 months is certainly an eternity away ......And winter is my playtime, (I'm an avid snowmobiler)......Sounds like a great time.....Will see how my schedule shakes down......Would be nice to meet some of the people who make this forum such a wonderful experience.....Bodes
