I was wondering if anyone out there knew what was originally contained in this box?

Looking at the box I'd say some sort if instrument for a 37mm Flak gun?

Abstand = Distance?

Rangefinder or something similar?

This has nothing to do with 3,7 cm Flak or a Rangefinder.

3,7 cm Abk.K. or 3,7 cm Abkommkanone was a subcaliberbarrel used in large caliber navyguns for practice purposes.

This box used to contain a device that measured the caliber of used barrels to make sure the 3,7 cm Abkommkanone could be fitted and used properly.
