8mm K98 Ammo?

Finally, and it is difficult to illustrate. If you look at the photo the silver thing on the left is the open bolt. You are currently looking down into the magazine of the gun. You will notice a hole in the bottom. Apparently you drop in a 5 round clip intact. Once you run through all five rounds the clip drops out of the bottom, sort of the way it pops out of the Garand.

is there any ammunition you can use other than the marked 8mm mauser ammo? i know i can get 8 mm mauser, but its basically a buck and change per shot. 25 bucks for 20 rounds...is there any other ammo we can use that will fit?

i had heard about romanian ammo sold in bulk that works...

You can buy 8mm ammo cheap, all major brands sell it. I made the mistake last summer where I had 3 boxes of good USA ammo Federal or Winchester, but the first two clips I plinked with were German 1939 ammo. Ouch!
