    08 cleaning-rod?

Hi there, this small lot just came in - I wonder if the rod is special for the 08-pistol, or common?

The rod is either for an LP08 or a P04 depending on the length.

Based on the magazines for size reference, it looks like you have a pretty decent condition LP08 cleaning rod.

BTW: Did you "crop" the photo to cut off the tip of the rod? In your photo the end of the rod looks squared off, when it should be rounded. The tip of the rod will either be all steel (just like the rest of the rod) or it may have a brass portion at the tip. I think the brass tip rods (more complicated to construct) pre-date the all steel rods.

Also, look closely at the ends of the wooden "barrel" portion of the rod - there are usually some small letters stamped in the ends. While some of these rods may have military aceptance marks stamped into the metal, all of the ones I have seen are devoid of markings (except for the letters in the ends of the wooden barrel).

If you get a chance, please show us some photos of the base of the P.08 magazine.

Thanks to both of you. The tip is indeed rounded, here is a close-up.

Here could be some really small letters...

Best closeup of the markings I can do now (by night), look like a written "H" with something above it.

What value would this lot, or each piece have? I have no use for it.
