A complete list of Third Riech handguns----

Does anyone have or know of a complete list of handguns used by the Third Reich? I know there were imported ones such as the Astra and the Browning 1922 in addition to the usual Lugers and P.38's, but have not seen a real list anywhere.

The Germans used handguns from other Axis nations (Hungarian Femaru M37, Czech vz27), from nations they conquered (French Unique and Mas, Norwegian M1911), and even gave ordnance designations to Allied handguns, although how much they used the latter is debatable. It's a long list.

This is in addition to German made pistols, of course.

For research, I recommend buying a copy of Jan Still's Axis Pistols.

You will never have a complete list.
They used everything they got their hands on.
Many years ago there was an artical on this subject in a popular gun magazine. The author remarked that every German must have had at least three .32 autos or similar pieces in order to account for the numbers of them encountered.

What about everything the themselves made plus everything they bought and put acceptance stamps on?

There is a comprehensive list and map of europe w/guns listed from each country that the axis powers used in the back of Stills book.

                Handguns

                Hi,
the P.621(b) was the renamed Browning M1910,
the P.620 (b) was the Browning HP,
                the P.35 (p) was the Radom wz.35,
the P.39 (t) was the Czech Cz 38
                the P.671 (i) was the Beretta M35 (7.65 mm)

the small letter stands for the country where comes from the handgun (belgium, poland, etc.....)
                ciao!

Which handguns were used by the Germans in WWII????

That is easy! Just look up every single handgun made in Europe during or before that time period, and you'll have your list!

                    Matt

                      That's wrong, sorry.

You rember the Reichsrevolver? Is it WWII period?
                      Some other examples:
                      Gewehr 261 (b), belgisch/Belgium Mauser 1889,
                      G 311 (d) , d******228;n./Denmark M 89 (Krag-J******246;rgensen),
                      G 361 (f), frz./French Gras 74,
Karabiner 504 (n), norw/Norwegian Lund (Remington rolling block system),
                      G 255 (r), russ./Russian Wintowka obr 1895 (Modell 95 Winchester)...

For an almost complete list, look for the "Kennbl******228;tter fremden Ger******228;ts, Heft 1, Handwaffen, 50/1, OKH - Heereswaffenamt" last edition as possible (I got a reprint of the edition 20.3.41).

Are you saying the Russians still were using the Winchester Modell 95 during WW2.

This rifle is a lever action, but with a box magazine as opposed to a tube magazine.

No. I just say that the Wehrmacht knows what they can expect in the field or in the arsenals of their enemies as a prize.

                              Sven,
Is it possible for me to $ you for a copy of that list. I had a copy of that at one time but have lost it somewhere. I would like to replace it.
Or if you know of a place that is selling reprints?
                              Thanks,
                              R.Blue
