    G dated K98 S/42

    Hey there,

I was wondering what the real value of a G dated K98 might be. I came across this one, all matching except unfortunately the cleaning rod but otherwise text book. Oh and its non import...
    Thanks,
    Andrew

            G dated K98

Based upon GB, I would say that it is worth the 1100$ that it went for at it's previous auction, one thing I would do though is to run it by some of the gun forums, there are a lot of them out there that are renumbered, especially out on the east coast. Some of the guys can take a look at it and give you a better idea on gunboards and parallax forum. Chris....

If this gun is all original and matching, it is worth a lot more than $1100...Tom

                renumbering

Renumbering is relatively easy to spot, a special ruler sometimes and comparing the size of the numbers along with level can often show you whether or not it was renumbered. 1100 I know is way low for a g dated k98, but to how high I don't know.

I personally would not put such a value on this rifle......The stock has been heavily cleaned and doesn't match metal wear.....Bluing may be suspect as well....Just my opinion.....Bodes

I tend to agree with bodes. The stock looks too clean, and I think that it has had the dents steamed out of it. Just an opinion; I would still like to have it!

                    Regards,

                    Ken
