    Liberater Pistol

For the person looking for a Liberater pistol, just saw one at the local gun show here in Philadelphia on Sat. The price was $1995.00. Originaly cost the Govt $3.00 each. You would have to have a lot of extra buck's to want to spend that much for that piece of junk! Only for it's rarity is it worth any thing!
The last one I saw a my gun shop about ten years ago was $895.00, it was gone in two days! geopop

There was one several months back at auction with original box and instructions in pristine condition which sold for in excess of $4000.

I always wondered how they sold or transf these since there's no original serial number ...do they have to stamp one to legally sell it ?

Here's a pic of the ugly duckling.

These were originally intended for Operation Braddock. I've written an article about here:

          http://www.psywar.org/braddock.php

Crazy prices but then anything related to OSS and SOE sells for big money.

Re: Serial numbers, I heard somewhere that in Canadian a serial number does have to be etched on them. Not sure about in the US.

I bought mine from a dealer for $650.I had to fill paper work out even though there was no serial number. As I was handing him the money, about 10 or so people started to gather to look at it.The dealer said I should have charged you more money!!

              ..

Yeah I had a Liberator. Mint. Serial was like 0160 or somthing stencilled on the side. Bought for 150 cdn years earlier, sold for about the same when the govt put the clamp on the guns in canada. You couldnt sell prohibited items for much money compared to the buying price from years earlier..

Actually I just saw one at the FDL show yesterday as well. I didn't ask the price though. The original cost to make them was actually $2.10, not $3.00.

Amazing what these are selling for now, isn't it??? If only one of us knew to invest in Liberator pistols back in 1945!

Thats when i lived in Canada. You cnat own much around here, but, you will find an ak in most houses. I had a large collection of stuff (for a 19-28 year old) people down south in the USA would go nuts over. Wasnt worth a fraction of the US prices on our side! The govt grandfathered the licences specifications as well so once they forced a collector out he couldnt get back in if he sold for instance a short barelled liberator pistol!

2 X unissued No.4 Enfield in the wrap with consecutive serial numbers (bought 200$ cdn)

                        Probably!

The liberator pistol was a real nice one though, it was mint mint mint! These Liberators are pretty rare as most were all delivered to occupied countries so i remember! A Gun to get a Gun they were called!

That really sucks that these are being destroyed, soon there wont be any left, like some bastard named Charlie Snyder who deals in fake militaria deactivated one to sell on his website so he wouldnt need an FFL, and he is in America.
