      Just thought I'd ad a couple more tid-bits. The book I listed above will tell you just about everything you need to know abut 1911/A1's.
      Thanks for the info, Steve. I have a copy of Clawson's Collector's Guide, and as far as I can tell, the Colt is all original and correct, although I can't testify to the recoil spring.

      I love these old .45s, and have a couple of others, with an eye on yet a new one. One can never own too many, I suppose.
