I am trying to find out some info on this bullet...it is about 3 inches long & appears to have some sort of spring gizmo in it. It was found along the Mexican border in an area that was supposed to be a camp for General Pershing when we was pursuing Pancho Villa. Any help is appreciated!!

What you have appears to be a device to shoot a .22 CB cap, or a .22 short, or a 6mm Flobert rimfire in a full sized rifle. If it were in good condition, you could pull back the area where the spring is, drop in a .22 CB cap, and release the spring. A plunger leads from the base of the cartridge to the base of the rimfire round. You only get an little more than an inch or so of barrel, but these things are fun to shoot at tin cans at about ten meters distance, or at a target inside your house. Too bad yours is so rusty.
I have one in the size of the old Belgian army cartridge - I would guess yours might be 7mm Mauser if its Mexican. Do you have other cartidges to compare the length to?
