rope gun?

Hey Guys, I was hoping sombody could help me out and shed a little light on an item I saw. It what some have told me is a rope gun. Not many markings on the piece except for .........leiropistole, DRP"seriel number"
DOes this sound like a military piece, WW2, or what?
Any idea on value?

Sounds like a line pistol, used by non-military and military water rescue units to fire lines from ship to ship using a blank charge like a grenade launcher. The pistols usually had wooden grips, longish barrels and foldable fore-grips for two handed use. Without seeing the markings, it could be pre-war or later. I would think any KM pieces would bear acceptance marks.
