CE 43 LSR undrilled receiver Q

Hello all,

New to the forum, but have collected on and off for a number of years. I have a question about a thick-walled ce43 98k that I hope you can help with. It was originally imported back in the mid-90s with the rest of the mis-matched,0% finish, peened swastika 98k's from Romania. Condition-wise, it lacks 99% of its bluing (no pitting), the bore is somewhat dull overall, and the stock, triggerguard, floorplate, and bolt do not match. Surprisingly the bands do match, probably retained by the front sight hood which had disappeared by the time I got it.

Anyway, I understand some of the history of these undrilled receiver, snipers-that-never-were, but my question is this: I am considering selling it, but given its condition, do you think it would bring any more than any other mis-matched, imported, 1% finish 98k?

Hi Todd, I think to the right person it might bring a little more. As you said there are a LOT of negatives to these particular rifles. In reality, the thicker wall might make an undesireable rifle sell faster. Good luck and best wishes,

I think that Inter Ordnance sold one for over $1000 a few years back. It was a typical RC as well.

This might be true Blue, however the ones from inter-ordnance did not have peened waffenampts. best wishes,

Well so far I have 2 ce43's that in the f (F) block that never made it to LSR snipers NO HOLES drilled. I also have been in touch with others who have f (F) blocks that I DON"T have in my data base and they are also in the f (F) block that are undrilled LSR's. i don't track owners but you might have 1 of the 2 serials I already have but i would like to add more if possible. If you don't want to post it pubicly please email me at vaughn99@adelphia.net. the 2 i have on file, 1 is a RC the other is a Vet Bringback. I hope you share and as always no personel info will be stored. This might of been when the LSR was being tested for production and they had alot of rejects/test receivers but of course all is speculation with no written proof. i for get when gustloff/j.p sauer shon got the offical paperwork for the go ahead on LSR production. more info on this subject would be appreciated.

That's right about the waffenampts not being buggered up. A buddy of mine has the rifle...I'll see still has it and get the serial number off of the reciever.

I don't have any other photos on the computer right now....not with the base off anyway. I do have some with the mount off.
I don't remember if there is a suffix stamped under the wood on the barrel or not.
Here are some shots that I do have of it. I think that the one shot of the reciever that you are interested in is out of focus...naturally...but I'll break it out again and take some better photos of it. The proof is E/37 and the other side of the reciever is marked E/280.
There is also a photo of this rifle in Senich's book on page 264 but that photo is not really good.
I think that Sauer did the prototype work for the LSR but I don't think that they fielded many of them....making it a scarce variation.
I've got some other LSR snipers...BCD's....I'll have to dig them out to give you the details and photos.
