    LP42 with qyn marking

    Hello,

I just found a LP42 flare pistol with a maker mark "qyn" , WaAxx at the usual place and no serial number.
I have seen a number of them marked "wa" or "euh", but this is the first I see with a "qyn" on it.
Is it a valid maker and why no serial number ?

    Any info welcome.

    Thanks,
    Pascal

    qyn lp42

    Pascal,
Nice find with the qyn LP42. It is quite certainly the genuine article. The qyn is an unknown maker's late code (post October 1944). This is a scarce code to locate. All of the qyn examples that I have seen (not a lot) have been without serial number. Should have a eagle swastika WaA99. I have I collect these late war LP and have always found them interesting. According to Wolfgang Kern's fine reference these were maufactured by codes wa, euh, de, qyn, and sww. The sww may be a late war replacement code for euh. I would suggest that qyn is also a late war replacement code?

My thoughts only - Lance O. Adams ....

        Thanks for the information.

I noticed that this LP has te same frame stamping as the "euh" code, i.e. the S raise above the grip and the raise around the right side of the barrel catch.

        Cheers,
        Pascal

          Hello Lance,

I just bought the book from W. Kern, a very interesting and complete reference.
I checked the WaA and it is 99.

          Thanks again for the info.

Old thread, but no new information since that time about "qyn" code....
Another LP42 with qyn marking. It was founded in old house in the village in Ukraine.
But I think it can't appear in that region later than july-august 1944

Now that is important information. It is generally believed that qyn is a late war mark which seems to be supported by your information. Thanks!

PS. Do you want to sell it?

              Best, Weidman

When I say july-august 1944 (most likely not later than the end of july), i mean period when german troops left that region, it happened during Lvov-Sandomierz offensive. It began on 13 july and ended on august 29, 1944. Place where flare gun was founded, maked with the red circle.

So flare gun was produced earlier - maybe on the end of spring or beginnig of the summer 1944
Of course there is a possibility that LP42 could appear in that region later as a trophy, but I dont belive in that

P.S. It is not for sale

the code QYN was issued after Okt 1944. remember the last official code in 1944 was OZZ. Any code after OZZ if post October 1944.
