K98 SWP No lock up ring

Greetings forum members: Reading this thread ,I noticed this K98 has no lock up ring behind the sling on the stock(I am not sure of the terminology for the ring, but I believe it was for securing the rifles). Was this common in late war rifles,as I have an opportunity to purchase a SWP45 with no ring in the stock. My main field of collection is helmets, but I would like to add a K98 for display and need some expertise from collectors in this field.Thank you all in advance.
    Sincere regards
    Zeke

Are you referring to the "hole" in the shoulder stock? For the firering pin? That was deleted to save time and money. Instead it is located in the "Kolbenschuh" (the metal cover in the end of the stock).

Thanks for the pictures! That is a very nice rifle. Excellent condition and rarely seen.

Yes, you are talking about the takedown disc. Doesn't matter, because swp45 rifles had them until the bitter end- check my website for some different examples.

Thank you for the reply. Yes, I was referring to the "hole" in the shoulder stock. The Svw45 pictured belongs to Mike Steves who also graciously answered my question. Was this "hole"(takedown disc)discontinued by most manufacturers, and if not, which manufacturers did discontinue it. All the best to both!
