If you want a cheap russian capture, try SOG (Southern Ohio Guns). All the waffen stamps etc, but not matching.

Hi, pretty soon I may get a K98 that saw service in WWII. With the corresponding markings, of course.
Will let you know when I have it.

I think Mitchell's Mausers is worth checking out (www.mauser.org). They have some interesting looking items on their site and offer a lot of customizing so you can get exactly what you want (matching serial numbers, certian factory codes or years, etc), all for a price of course.

Prices range from a $399 "Collector Grade w/ German WWII markings" to a $10,000 "K98 ‘SS’ Sniper Rifle with Original Sniper Scope, with Storm Trooper and Death Head Markings" The latter comes with a velvet-lined walnut presentation case.

Everything looks good on the website, but I think I have heard some people on this forum complain about the poor quality of some items that they ordered.

Simpson Ltd. has been known to provide some good stuff (they are famous for their huge assortment of Lugers). They have at least 4 Kar 98ks on this page if you are willing to shell out $395 for one.

                        http://www.simpsonltd.com/index.php?cPath=22_83_140

Bargins have been known to be found on gunsamerica.com, too.

I'll be blunt regarding Mitchell's mausers. They are fradulent pieces of garbage! These are nothing more than import marked Russian captured 98k's that are renumbered, reblued, pimp shined, and stamped with a host of bogus markings. Expect your Mitchell mauser to drop in value faster than a new Edsel just driven out of the dealership. One can do much better with 2.5-10 thousand dollars.

Sorry about advising you to go with Mitchell's Konig, I never bought anything from them before so I didn't know they were that bad. I'll remember to stay away!

Anyway, what do you guys think of the Kar98ks that Simpson Ltd. sells?
