      Roscoe,
Thanks for your usual excellent photos, especially showing the most interesting differences in the two rare pistols. Most of us hoi-poli will never lay eyes on the likes of these, but really enjoy looking at the photos just in case we should ever be lucky enough to stumble onto one.

Roscoe, it is interesting that the Walther factory manual for the PP version of this contract with the Bavarian Interior Ministry shows the enlarged muzzel end.

In your desciption of the two magazines, are you saying the one with the modified extension was a standard release magazine that was modified to fit the BMR gun? Is it supposed to be a factory modification?

            Joe,
            That's interesting about the PP.
The magazine is indeed a standard side release that has been modified. I cannot say if it was a factory job. I will say this, that it is a first class job if not factory. I can provide some better photos of it if you want. It looks to be cut down but it is precise.

I was emailing John Massaro about these PDMs the other day and he pointed out that Walther produced pistols out of serial sequence or held blocks of serial numbers. That may explain the commercial's earlier serial number. We both felt that the use of 9mm slides explains the enlarged muzzle. The only question I still have with that....Did Walther simply use up a supply of 9mm slides for the PDM contract that they had on hand or was it something that was requested?
The commercial bmr that I have may simply be a left over from the PDM contract......?
Let me know if you want some more shots of the mag. It is a really neat item.
