    Walther "PDM" Revisited

Here are some shots of a couple of bottom mag release PPk's. One is the "PDM" that I posted a couple of days ago and the other is a 7,65m/m commercial bottom mag release, with dural frame.
The "PDM" PPk's are rare but even rarer is the basic commercial variant. It is identical to the "PDM", just not marked "PDM". It is also found in a different.....earlier serial number range.
Only a small handful of these pistols are known.
Here is a comparison shot of it along with the "PDM"

Reverse. As you can see the dural frame has started to turn on my commercial model. It appears a copper color.

Here are a series of photos of the commercial bottom mag release with it's early AKAH, leading edge mag pouch holster, and capture paper. Unfortunately the paperwork only states "Pistol" and doesn't give the serial number.

                    Now for the interesting part.
I have observed that these Dural frame "PDM" and 7,65mm commercial bottom mag release PPk's have unusual barrels.
In this photo you can see three PPk's. Two are bottom mag release variants while the other is a standard 7,65mm PPk.
The bottom mag release guns have a collar at the end of the barrel. They measure 12mm thick at the collar and 11mm thick for the rest of the barrel.
The standard PPk's barrel measures 11mm thick.

As would be expected. The slides for these Dural frame, bottom mag release PPk's are larger at the muzzle end to accommodate the thicker barrels.
                          Here is a comparison photo.
The slide on the left is for the Dural frame PPk (13mm) and the slide on the right is a standard production PPk (12mm).

Here is a comparison photo of a rather unique magazine. It is a finger extension mag but it has been modified to accommodate the bottom mag release.
Here are a couple comparison photos.
