    1903A4, my favorite sniper rifle

For years I've heard that the 1903A4 was not a very good sniper rifle because of the poor scope on it. Through many years of collecting I've accumlated a number of sniper rifles but have never fired any of them until recently. I finally decided to shoot them and So far I have shot two Enfield T's, a Japanese T-97 and a Russian 91/30 sniper and the A4. Still have a German G43 sniper and a Z41 sniper to try. Anyway, of all scopes on the rifles I shot so far, I ready like the little M73b1 scope on the A4 the best. Three reasons why I like it. First, it is adjustable for focus, I really need that for my older eyes, none of the other scopes on the rifles I shot are adjustable. Second, I find the cross hairs on the M73b1 are easier to line up on target then the posts or semi post/cross hair types on the other scopes and the fine cross hairs don't cover the target like the thicker posts of the others. Third, I find the lower 2-1/2 power scope of the A4 much easier to hold steady on target because it is less sensitive to movement and dosen't exaggerate movement like the other more powerful scopes do. Anyway that's my 2ยข. Now I am not a serious shooter and the A4 isn't really a long range sniper like some are and my preferrence may not match those who are serious shoots. Also I haven't fired any of the K98 regular scoped snipers. The worst scope was the T-97 one. No internal adjustment and if it wasn't the one issued/zero'd for the rifle you have to use Kentucky windage with it.

But for me the rifle with that cheap M73b1 scope coupled with the "C" stock is my favorite. Ray
