K98 and G43 with white wash camo?

I was wondering if somebody had a war time picture or any evidence of K98 rifles and G43 painted with white wash camo during winter seasons

I have seen pictures of MP40, MP44, Mg 34/42, but never rifles

There is a great picture of Paratroopers in Russia in "History of the German Steel helmet" byBaer , page 233 that shows 98ks with whitewashed stocks, slings and metal.

Yes he does.....You might just want to try the "Search" engine and see if you can find the photos of the K98k Bill posted before.....Bodes

Thanks a lot guys, I was most interested in verifing existance and practice because aprt form collecting WWII German helmets I also buy 1/6 German figures of WWII and I repaint and age them to be more real. I am working on a little project and I wanted to be sure I was not about to create an inacurate figure.

I will still do the search. Having an origina? That must really be a hard to find item, and probably captrued during a winter campaigne otherwise i guess the white wash would have been taken off. Stll i will do the search you suggest. Thanks a lot for the info and tips!!!

              Jamie,
Bill's rifle is an important piece. It's dripping with character and without a doubt it's one of the best 98's I've ever seen.

I sold 2000 German WW2 k98k-g43 etc slings since 2002...and only one sling had cream/light brown paint on it...

Never saw a completely pained sling.

But I think they just messed on the sling while they painted an other item. Maybe a rifle..

                Best regards Tommy

Without a known history of a whitewashed rifle like the 98K of Bill has,
i would not touch it, because its too easy to fake.

I can remember that a collector from france has posted a whitewashed
                      MP44 a while ago

Extremely difficult to know the originality if it don`t come from the vet itself. The war ended in may and snow was gone. White was a very bad cammo during the last month of the war.I guess 99% is replica-fakes. They usually are bad fakes, but who can determint a old white chalck finish if original or fake? If proper done, I guess almost none. A minefield!!!! Provonence is gold!!!!!!

I am also thinking that people who got there hands on theses would probaly removed the white to get at the nice wood colour.
Never knowing they were destroying a piece of history.
