1000th post: Luger DWM1914

Hi folks,

To celebrate my 1000th post in this forum, I´choose to share with you some images of an item that is important to me: my first matching Luger. I bought this one back in 1997 and I still have it as I really enjoy its "it was there" look.

It is a P.08 made by DWM in 1914, with no unit mark, but with such clean and nice proofs. Hope you enjoy it.

Dear Sir,

A beautiful old gentleman of the firearms world. I notice that it appears well oiled and I always love to see collectors guns like that. The grips appear quite dark, and maybe this is through heavy use and lots of gun oil staining the wood.I have an almost identical gun from 1915, it was taken back to the UK in a soldiers backpack and did not get the safety converted like so many did. I notice yours also has the original safety sear bar and I feal this makes it more interesting.

Do you shoot the gun ? I still shoot mine but I have just purchased new spare parts so I can pack the the matching numbered items away and won't reduce the value of the gun if I break a firing pin or extractor.

Thanks for your kind words. As I said I love this gun as it remained in very nice condition for a 90+ years old combat gun. You´re correct about the oil in the grips, I had some busy hours trying to clean it but it is not a easy work, isn´t it?

As pistols like this one are hard to find around where I live, I haven´t shoot it yet. But I bought a DWM 1918 that I intend to take to the range one day. I just need to get some spare parts as you did to not damage it.
