    G33/40 dot 1942

Hi All, I recently ran into this G33/40. Don't know a whole lot about them, but this one seems nice. Bolt is mismatched but has test proof stamp on top, serial# on side of handle and under bolt handle has a 'N 8" mark. Bluing is in very nice shape in most areas. Has a waffenampt with #63 on breech above the dot mark. No other parts are numbered. Side plate and but plate are almost in the white. Laminated stock has some dings and bangs on it and seems nice with most ly age and storage wear on it and appears untouched. The only thing I cannot find are any proofs or marks on the stock-is this unusual? Also what are these going for nowadays? Comments and questions welcome. sorry for a couple poor pics here,I am still figuring out this digital camera! Thanks...Cheers...Jeff

Hello Jeff, this rifle is pretty rare and I don't have one of these. It looks to be in good shape. I think it's a great addition even if the #'s don't match. I have seen G33/40's selling for $600 plus a few years back at gun shows that didn't have matching #'s. I hope it helps.

                          Front sight area

Hi, it looks like the front sight area is not original. The front sight hood looks like a normal k98 sight hood, and these weapons had there own special front sight/hood. Can you take a picture from a different angle, like from the front? Like the other person stated, its a nice rifle and are hard to come by in any config. I saw a very nice all matching that was like almost mint go for 3500 bucks on gunbroker. I could just druelllll, no way I could afford it.
                          Take care
                          Mike

I personally don't see any immediate "red flags" with the front sight.....However the metal finish doesn't look proper IMO....The front band and floorplate have a matte finish which doesn't look natural.....Of course, they may have turned brown, and the pictures make the finish seem off (?)....However, as previously stated G33/40's are getting harder to find in any condition (even more so w/matching numbers).....So any example is nice......As for price, an all-matched minty one can easily sell into the 4-digits....A friend of mine sold a nice one for $3500.....In this condition, $600 +/- is probably a fair market value.....Bodes

Thanks Mike, Mike, and Bodes for your replies! Mike Bodes is correct the sight hood is proper,as I compared it to a regular k98 sight hood and this one is smaller. However as Bodes states about the floor plate and band it does look matted finish, its not brownish-could the finish on those two parts of been redone?...Cheers...Jeff
